Europe 2015 – Road Trip soundtrack 4: Italy – Austria – Czech Republic – Germany

We left Italy listening to the only music that made sense: Rione Junno, our newly adopted favorite Italian group. And we drove into Prague playing the only possible song to play: INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart,” whose 1987 music video was shot in Prague and instantly made me want to visit the great Czech capital. It only took 28 years to get there. We also listened to a few Czech deep cuts. As we drove through Germany on our way back to Belgium to catch our flight “home” to Izmir, Turkey, we cranked up techo pioneers Kraftwerk’s masterpieces “Autobahn” and “Trans Europe Express,” perfectly appropriate following our six-week road trip through Europe. And for an exclamation point, we chased the techno down with the heavy machinery-infused beats of industrial godfathers Einstürzende Neubauten.
